My research is focused on improving infant gastrointestinal health through probiotics. By co-culturing promising strains with real infant fecal microbiome samples and analyzing their metabolic responses on Biolog’s PreBioM plates, we were able to see how these communities metabolize a wide range of prebiotic substrates. This approach led us to identify 30+ microbial strains that could help shape the next generation of synbiotics.
